Overview
Music Therapist / MT, Hospice PRN
Location: Edison, NJ Coverage Area: Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean Counties Remote/Virtual Position: No
Salary: $25 - $35 / hour Schedule: PRN plus on call
Must have Board Certification and be a Licensed Professional Music Therapist in the State of NJ.
What You Need to Know
Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Music Therapy and/or Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved university (or undergraduate equivalency program approved by AMTA).
Board Certified as Music Therapist (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT).
Previous experience with terminally ill patients/families is highly desirable.
Must have reliable automobile, valid driver's license and the minimum state-required liability auto insurance.
Responsibilities
Complete the music therapy assessment with patient and family when referred in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care.
Plan music therapy interventions.
Guide the patient in the use of creative therapeutic activities for the purpose of improving or maintaining mental and physical function and quality of life.
Evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy services with the patient and/or family‑of‑choice.
Provide in‑services to staff, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities as requested and determined appropriate by therapist.
Serve as counselor at IDG meetings, participate in on‑call rotation, and assist with sign‑ups and consents for newly referred patients.
Support the bereavement program at the site level.
Required Certifications and Licensures
Board Certified as Music Therapist (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT).
Must be a licensed driver who can travel to all business locations.
