Summary The Field Operations Coordinator serves as the on‑site point of contact supporting Project Managers in the successful execution of construction and commissioning activities. This position ensures effective coordination between craft supervision, engineering, procurement, and logistics functions to prevent work stoppages and maintain safe, high‑quality operations. The Field Ops Coordinator will be embedded at project sites to support daily field activities, manage Procore documentation, and facilitate communication between internal teams, subcontractors, and customers.

This role reports to the Manager of Substation Execution and is based in Ankeny, IA, with daily on‑site presence required. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Travel to project sites may be required up to 50%.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

On‑Site Leadership & Coordination

Serve as the on‑site representative for Project Managers, ensuring work continuity and resolving issues to prevent construction delays or stoppages.

Maintain daily coordination with craft supervision, subcontractors, and field leadership to ensure alignment with project schedules and objectives.

Support field engineering, procurement, and logistics activities, ensuring materials, drawings, and equipment are available and staged appropriately.

Safety, Quality, and Inspection

Champion on‑site safety culture by supporting and enforcing company and customer safety policies.

Conduct or assist in inspections, audits, and quality walkdowns to ensure adherence to Qcells and client standards.

Track and manage quality documentation, ensuring issues are captured and resolved through Procore or related systems.

Procore & Documentation Management

Manage daily field documentation, RFIs, submittals, photos, and reports in Procore.

Ensure accurate and timely updates to logs, schedules, and punch lists.

Support reporting for internal project meetings and customer updates.

Customer & Internal Communication

Attend internal coordination meetings and customer project meetings, providing updates on field progress, challenges, and logistics.

Act as a communication bridge between site teams and project management, ensuring information flows effectively across all disciplines.

Construction Support

Assist in planning and executing construction activities in coordination with engineering and field supervisors.

Provide support for site logistics planning, including laydown areas, access routes, deliveries, and equipment tracking.

Support on‑site engineering tasks such as redline markups, field change documentation, and constructability feedback.

General Responsibilities

Maintain daily presence on site to monitor progress and report any risks or issues.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Regular attendance and adherence to company policies are essential requirements for this position.

Required Skills & Competences

3–5 years of experience in utility‑scale energy, heavy industrial, or infrastructure construction projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.

Strong understanding of field construction operations and safety protocols.

Experience with Procore or similar project management platforms.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with craft labor, foremen, engineers, and clients.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic on‑site environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam.

Willingness to travel to and remain on project sites as needed (up to 50%).

Experience in renewable energy (solar, substation, or BESS projects).

Familiarity with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.

Understanding of material management and field procurement processes.

Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.

Physical Demands

Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.

Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights and confined spaces.

Able to walk or move continuously while carrying up to 50 lbs. of tools or materials.

Must be able to stand or walk for long periods on uneven terrain.

Requires repetitive movement and full range of motion consistent with field work.

Location

Work performed primarily at industrial construction sites.

Climatic/Environmental Conditions

Predominantly outdoor work environment.

May be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, humidity, rain, or dust.

Exposure to varying noise levels from tools, machinery, and equipment.

Work around hazardous equipment and electrical components.
