The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is seeking dependable Police Communications Operators to become part of our dynamic communications team. In this vital role, you will receive, transmit, and coordinate public safety information that directly supports our law enforcement operations. Description of Work

Field calls from the public and county 911 operators regarding both emergency and non‑emergency police matters.

Gather essential information, prioritize incidents, and relay critical details to responding troopers.

Coordinate with municipal police, fire departments, ambulance services, towing companies, and PennDOT as needed.

Use systems such as the Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN), Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET), and the Protection from Abuse Database (PFAD) to access, maintain records, and establish incident details.

Communicate with troopers and other police communications operators about active incidents or any concerns that arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week.

Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Telework is not an option for this position.

Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Two years of experience using two‑way radio, multi‑line telephone, or computer‑aided dispatch systems; or

Two years of experience using computer systems for entering, updating, and retrieving information; or

Completion of 60 college credits; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements

Clear, firm voice with no major speech, hearing, or visual impairments that would interfere with verbal communication, being understood, or using electronic communication equipment.

Obtain an active Public Safety Telecommunicator certification from the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials within the probationary period and maintain it for the duration of employment.

Obtain active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certifications issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain them for the duration of employment.

Additional Requirements

One year of experience providing customer service.

Ability to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualification (not required)

One year of experience dispatching police, fire, or ambulance services for emergency response.

Legal Requirements

Must submit a Report of Medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer before placement.

Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
