Road & Rail Services is hiring an experienced Railroad Track Foreman to lead railroad track maintenance and construction crews in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. This working foreman position combines hands‑on railroad track repair with crew leadership, safety oversight, and daily reporting.
As a Railroad Track Foreman, you will be responsible for leading and working alongside track crews while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently under Federal Railroad Administration regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Leading railroad track maintenance and construction crews
Performing hands‑on railroad track repair and maintenance
Enforcing FRA safety rules and company safety policies
Training, mentoring, and evaluating crew members
Operating heavy equipment and specialty railroad equipment
Using power tools and hand tools safely
Managing materials, tools, and jobsite inventory
Completing daily reports, safety documentation, and work logs
Using a computer for scheduling, reporting, and administrative tasks
Minimum Qualifications
At least 1 year of supervisory experience in the railroad industry
Proven experience with railroad track construction and repair
Heavy equipment experience related to railroad track work preferred
Strong understanding of railroad safety and risk management
Comfortable using a computer for daily job duties
Microsoft Office experience required, with emphasis on Excel
Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
This position involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental factors common to railroad operations. The schedule is flexible and may include weekends, overtime, and occasional on-call responsibilities based on operational needs. The role requires frequent walking, bending, lifting, and working on uneven surfaces such as ballast and track structure. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment at all times and maintain a strong safety‑focused mindset while working in an active railroad environment.
