Maintenance Repair Specialist 2 Truckee Meadows Community College is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Specialist 2 in the Facilities Operations and Capital Planning Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and modification of plumbing systems and fixtures, constructing and modifying facilities and fixtures by pouring and finishing concrete for labs and floors, constructing roofs and walls, and installing doors and windows. The Maintenance Repair Specialist 2 is also responsible for repairing surfaces, applying paint, staining furniture, replacing keys, locks and electronic access systems. This position will also review blueprints and schematics, layout projects and install switches, relays and circuit breaker panels, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and provide supervision to employees. This position will also make recommendations to their supervisor, draft bids and contracts for external projects, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

This position requires four (4) years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and one year of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR

One (1) year of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre‑employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

This position requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Heavy work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and / or pulling.

This position is required to work in confined spaces with frequent exposure to chemicals, paints, and dust and may be required to work in inclement weather.

Schedule The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade Grade 31 (Step 01, $27.09 / hr)
