Control Room Operator position available in operating a 22 MW wood‑fired boiler - electrical power producer.
The Control Room Operator is responsible for carrying out the duties related to safe, proper and efficient plant operation of power generation equipment in accordance with industry standards, environmental permitting and facility procedures. Duties include operating turbine generator sets, steam boilers, fluid pumps, air compressors, conveyor belt systems, fans, electric motors, ash conveying systems, chemical testing and injecting systems, mobile equipment and other equipment, as well as overseeing and directing the duties of Steam Plant Operators.
Reporting Rotating shift position reports to Operations Supervisor.
Operate the facility from the DCS in the control room and from within the plant as required by circumstances.
Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent information amongst the shift, between shifts, production support personnel and management personnel.
Learn and understand the operation of each piece of plant equipment and its normal operating condition.
Understand and maintain normal operating conditions of all steam generation and ancillary equipment.
Be aware of the present operating condition of each piece of plant equipment by performing scheduled rounds and other rounds as outlined in shift procedures.
Know the Site Safety Manual and follow all safety procedures, reporting any unsafe condition or acts to your supervisor.
Know all state, federal and site environmental limits and follow procedures to maintain them, reporting any irregularities to your supervisor.
Know and follow the Operations Procedures Manual, the Casualty Procedures Manual and any updates or revisions to these manuals.
Perform maintenance corrective action of any abnormal operating condition to rectify the problem if it is within the ability to be performed safely and properly.
Understand and maintain normal operating conditions of all wood fuel unloading, processing and conveying equipment.
Understand and maintain normal operating conditions of all ash systems as needed to produce spec ash.
Perform assigned maintenance tasks as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
Review and direct the regular and routine testing & treatment of boiler water and cooling system water as required.
Attend and complete all required training programs to include safety, environmental and industry related.
Maintain a positive attitude, professional, respectful and courteous behavior, motivation, initiative, cooperation and participation.
Act as a team member with all employees while complying with all policies and procedures.
Assume further responsibilities including, but not limited to, certain maintenance/housekeeping and administrative tasks deemed appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
