About the Job As an Engineering & Facilities Maintenance Mechanic 2, you will install, maintain, and repair automated material handling equipment, ensuring high equipment availability rates. You will use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and restore equipment to service to support the successful operation of the supply chain facility.
Responsibilities
Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of material handling equipment (conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, ASRS).
Demonstrate proficiency with hydraulic, pneumatic, AC/DC electrical motors, drives, and scanners, cameras, and printers.
Adjust and repair adjustable components (belts, chains, cables, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys).
Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment; use job plans, procedures, and manuals.
Maintain and troubleshoot motors, VFDs, photo-eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, encoders, etc.
Assist with basic electronics and PLC troubleshooting; conduct maintenance on industrial robots.
Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment (PI trucks, HVAC, air compressors, dryers, balers).
Use handheld devices and asset‑management system to create and close work orders with accurate data.
Develop and maintain positive relationships across the organization.
Follow safety procedures, use PPE, lock‑out/tag‑out, and eliminate safety hazards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
PC competency and ability to use mobile apps on handheld devices.
Familiarity with wiring diagrams, symbols, electrical measuring, and basic schematic reading.
Experience with work‑order management, preventive/predictive maintenance, AC/DC electrical principles, basic metal fabrication, industrial controls, and electronics.
Ability to troubleshoot basic PLC programs and HMIs.
Desired: Degree in mechanical or electrical field; 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent; experience with automated conveyor systems, MHE safety standards, and robotic operation/maintenance.
Physical Demands
Regular bending, lifting (totes up to 49 lb), stretching, reaching, walking.
Climb ladders and work off platforms.
Manual dexterity, eye/hand coordination, and wrist motion required.
Work in small spaces, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, noise, vibration, standing on concrete, wet surfaces.
Ability to stand/walk 10–12 hr.
