BHCC seeks full-time faculty who demonstrate a passion for teaching and a desire to join faculty and staff to expand and create new strategies for student success. Faculty must be experienced in teaching in learning communities or willing to become proficient in learning community pedagogy and practice once hired, as well as be adept in the assessment of learning outcomes and in the use of technology in the classroom. Candidates should be passionate educators who can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners. Additionally, BHCC seeks faculty who value advising students and wish to contribute fully to the life of the College. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College's locations.
Responsibilities
Teach Italian and French language courses.
Promote cultural awareness and cultural wealth through the teaching of Italian and French.
Create and support a student-centered environment in and beyond the classroom.
Foster the development of critical thinking skills through the teaching of Italian and French.
Evaluate student performance in the classroom using outcomes-based assessments.
Participate in on‑going review, development and assessment of the curriculum of Italian and French languages.
Maintain expertise in area of teaching responsibility.
Participate in on‑going professional development.
Use new technologies to support instruction.
Teach in learning communities in which language courses are paired with courses in other disciplines.
Actively participate as a faculty member in the general College community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Job Requirements
Master's degree in French or Italian with substantial graduate-level coursework in French and/or Italian.
Native or near-native fluency in French and Italian.
Experience teaching French and/or Italian literature and culture.
Demonstrated ability and experience teaching both languages at multiple proficiency levels.
Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and work areas.
Preferred Requirements
Ph.D. in French, Italian, or a closely related field.
Experience in teaching at community college.
Experience in teaching online, hybrid and remote modalities.
Experience in digital humanities, instructional technology, and/or open educational resources.
Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence in the teaching learning process.
Demonstrated experience supporting student retention as part of teaching and learning.
Additional Information Salary: $58,438 - $62,960. (Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.) Full Time Benefited position.
