Summary
Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the VP, Marketing, Advertising & Privacy Compliance Counsel will be a member of the Compliance department. Working under the direction of the legal and compliance departments this position will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance across marketing and advertising initiatives. Among other responsibilities, this person will monitor new developments, maintain adherence to applicable consumer finance marketing and privacy laws, regulations, and Agency and GSE guidelines, and state laws. This role will provide legal guidance, review promotional materials, maintain applicable policies, and mitigate compliance risks associated with consumer-facing campaigns. Additionally, this role will advise on legal and compliance obligations related to data privacy and security.

Monitor and analyze changes in marketing, advertising and privacy laws to recommend proactive measures for compliance.
Investigate and respond to regulatory inquiries or complaints related to marketing, advertising or privacy practices.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports but may provide guidance, leadership, or training to others.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of CFPB/FTC/state marketing regulations, TILA, RESPA, Fair Lending Laws, UDAAP, TCPA, and privacy laws such as GLBA and FCRA.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in regulatory risk assessment.
Ability to train and collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including sales, marketing, and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with HUD/FHA, VA, USDA and GSE guidelines regarding borrower communications.
Experience handling CFPB examinations, data privacy audits, and regulatory inquiries related to marketing compliance.
Education and/or Experience
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active state bar membership (preferably in NJ, PA, IN, FL or NY)
10+ years of legal experience, including a minimum of 5 years of in mortgage lending, advertising law, privacy, and compliance within the financial services sector.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None Required
Work Complexity Problems and issues faced are difficult and complex, and may require understanding of broader set of issues. Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues and understanding of the financial/mortgage industry. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
