Kent County Parks & Recreation seeks an experienced and dynamic individual to serve as the Leaders Club Camp Director for our summer program designed for middle school students in grades 7-9. This leadership role requires a strong background in camp program development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage and resolve conflicts. The Camp Director will oversee daily camp operations, ensuring a safe, enriching, and fun environment for participants while fostering collaboration and positivity among staff. Prior driving experience is required for transporting campers in 12- or 15-passenger vans to scheduled activities and field trips.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a nine-week camp program, including daily lesson plans and weekly special activities.

Transport campers in 12- or 15-passenger vans to field trips and activities safely and responsibly.

Coordinate and lead field trips, clubs, special events, and presentations tailored to middle school-aged campers.

Organize and manage program materials, including arts and crafts supplies.

Supervise swimming schedules and enforce safety protocols.

Provide leadership, training, and evaluations for Camp Counselors.

Maintain professional communication with parents, staff, and campers, handling conflicts constructively and respectfully.

Ensure adherence to all camp regulations and operational standards, including those required by the Department of Health.

Position Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Extensive experience working with middle school-aged children.

Demonstrated expertise in camp program design and leadership.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.

Availability for the entire camp schedule, including orientation (mid-June to early August).

Valid driver’s license with a clean three-year driving record.

Current First Aid and CPR certification (can be obtained during orientation).

Professional demeanor and strong character traits suitable for a public-facing role.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Light cleaning, driving, and actively engaging in indoor/outdoor recreational activities with participants.
