Job Overview We are looking for a lead Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) researcher to join our growing Sustainability team. As a lead LCA researcher, you will lead assessments of environmental issues across the full spectrum of Amazon businesses and evaluate the sustainability impacts across the value chain.

Key Responsibilities

Create and maintain ambiguous and/or complex LCA methodologies and models, including experimentation of footprint methods.

Develop documentation for validations and assurance purposes.

Ideate the creation and interpretation of innovative and novel methods and standards.

Scales validations of methodologies or complex models for use in Amazon’s Corporate Carbon Footprint.

Conduct research on new machine-learning and AI models and develop comprehensive data foundation, accurate and scalable methods to solve our hardest sustainability problems.

Basic Qualifications

PhD, or Master’s degree and 4+ years of quantitative field research experience.

Knowledge of R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language.

Experience investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with agile development.

Experience consulting with senior leadership and executives in a fast‑paced environment.

Experience programming, prototyping and scripting with Oracle, SQL, Hive, Pig, SAS, Weka, or Python.
