Mining Exchange Hotel , managed by Practice Hospitality, is looking for a
Lead Bartender
who is passionate about craft cocktails, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences. In this role, you’ll lead the bar team, craft innovative drinks, and ensure every guest interaction is welcoming, engaging, and elevated.

About The Hotel Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces, and guestrooms are all newly renovated.
Job Role The Lead Bartender is responsible for conducting opening and ending inventory counts, placing product orders and documenting product, serving, and cleanup, while focusing on quality presentation and customer service. They cultivate a culture of authentic hospitality for their fellow team members and recognize that they must lead by example. They help oversee the daily operations of the Bar and Beverage Program. Their responsibilities revolve around the service of our guests with genuine hospitality, speed, and accuracy, as well as the opening and closing of the operation, ordering, receiving, and stocking of beverage and related items, and cash handling responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Act as the shift lead for FOH staff (servers, bartenders, support), delegating tasks and ensuring smooth operations.
Train and mentor bartenders/servers on cocktails, service standards, and POS systems.
Monitor guest satisfaction, resolve complaints, and elevate issues to management when needed.
Enforce health/safety protocols, alcohol compliance (checking IDs), and inventory controls.
Oversee opening/closing procedures, including cash handling, tip-outs, and shift reports
Craft elevated cocktails with precision, following recipes and innovating seasonal offerings.
Maintain bar cleanliness, stock levels, and prep (syrups, infusions, batching).
Provide engaging service, guide guests through beverage menus, and process payments.
Collaborate with management on inventory orders, menu updates, and staff scheduling.
Provides friendly, quality, and genuine hospitality to each guest
Manages individual banks for each bar facility. Collects, reconciles, and deposits individual reports and monies daily.
Takes bar inventory and prepares bar order for F&B Manager.
Ensures invoices are checked against deliveries and forwarded with money and receipts to the office daily; oversees the daily deposits and assists with reconciliation.
Responsible for opening and closing the bar facility.
Monitors the intake of alcohol of guests, prohibiting the sale to those who are intoxicated
Greets guests, takes orders, prepares, and serves offerings in accordance to established standards at the bar and surrounding area bar tables. Checks identification of guests to verify age requirements for the purchase of alcohol.
Prepares and serves alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages as ordered, following recipes and beverage preparation processes in compliance with company standards.
Demonstrates knowledge of both food and beverage menus and offerings, including dietary and allergen guidelines.
Operates cash register and receives payment in cash or credit card, and accurately counts and provides change for guests, when applicable.
Operates in compliance with federal, state, and local law requirements for serving alcohol.
Prepares garnishes, stocks, and replenishes beverages and garnishment supply at bar as needed.
Performs shift opening/closing/side work duties as assigned. Any other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Compensation $16.16 per hour
Requirements Education:
High school education or equivalent experience.
Must be 21 years of age
Minimum of 6 months previous bartending experience
Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
Prior experience ensuring safe work environment in compliance with appropriate regulations (i.e. – Ergonomics, Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Hazard Communication Plans)
Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands
Able to lift, push, carry 75‑100 lbs.
Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures to pre‑check order and close out the check.
Works on feet for prolonged periods of time.
