Assistant Associate Professor in Kinesiology Hope International University Position Information Organizational Relationship:

Reports to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS)

Position Summary:

The Assistant/Associate Professor will contribute to the B.S. in Kinesiology program. Areas of focus and courses will include Anatomy & Physiology, Principles of Human Movement, Human Motor Control & Learning, Measurements & Statistics, and Physiology of Exercise. Responsibilities will include attending regular College of Arts & Sciences meetings, developing curriculum, cultivating internship opportunities, maintaining required office hours, participating in Kinesiology program-related events, advising students, serving on committees and projects, facilitating learning, maintaining ongoing professional and spiritual growth, and participating in community chapels and the broader university activities such as faculty in-service days and commencement ceremonies.

The position is scheduled to begin in June 2026. CAS offers on-ground bachelor’s degrees and online undergraduate degrees; CAS also provides Leadership & Ethic Core/General Education courses for all TUG/OUG students.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching primarily undergraduate on-ground kinesiology courses. Additional responsibilities include joining our CAS faculty team in collaborative efforts as may be assigned and providing academic advising and curriculum development.

Teaching

The repertoire of courses to be taught with traditional on-ground students could include: Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Human Motor Control & Learning, Measurements & Statistics, Principles of Human Movement, Physiology of Exercise, Strength & Conditioning, and Internship in Kinesiology.

Administration

Completion of summative course assessments (SCAs) for improving student learning for Program Learning Objectives in courses taught.

Academic Advising

Advise undergraduate kinesiology students. Academic advising is divided by all full-time faculty.

Physical Demands: Able to lift, grasp, stoop and carry up to 20 pounds.

Education/Experience:

Candidates who have earned a M.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or another related field. Candidates should be able to cite and demonstrate teaching ability and experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

Computer skills and experience are required. Preference for experience using Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Learning Management Systems required (Canvas preferred).

Mental Demands:

Must be able to manage and prioritize teaching load responsibilities, student advising responsibilities, and program administration responsibilities.

Visual Demands:

Extensive use of computer screens, evaluation of student work, assessment of student learning, composition, editing, and evaluation of various other work-related documents.

Physical Demands:

Long intervals at keyboard and monitor. Conveying instructional materials to and from the classroom. Demonstrations for instructional purposes may require corresponding physical movements.

Environment:

Service-oriented instructional role in an institution of Christian higher education. Extensive contact with faculty colleagues, staff, students, and the general public in person and often by phone or email.

Character:
