Assistant Professor of Kinesiology (Biomechanics) Department: Kinesiology, California State University, East Bay. Work type: Instructional Faculty – Tenured/Tenure-Track. Location: East Bay. DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF KINESIOLOGY (BIOMECHANICS) We are a vibrant department serving 400 majors and non-majors through lecture and physical activity classes in the General Education Program. We value student-centered teaching, community service, and scholarly activity, and we maintain a diverse student body. We employ 13 tenure-track/tenured faculty, nine instructors, two laboratory technicians, two advisors, and two administrative support staff. Our facilities include the Physical Education Building with teaching and research laboratories for exercise physiology, biomechanics, exercise testing and prescription, motor learning/sport psychology, a modern Fitness Center, exercise studios, and related offices. We pursue a cross-disciplinary life-sciences, cognitive-behavioral sciences, and humanities approach to kinesiology, and offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees with a Physical Education Single Subject waiver option. Responsibilities

Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in biomechanics and musculoskeletal anatomy. Additional teaching may include exercise and wellness, exercise testing and prescription, research methods, and/or motor learning and control. Courses are offered face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Engage in an active line of scholarship aligned with the successful applicant’s expertise. Undertake advising, departmental administrative and/or committee work, campus-wide committee responsibilities, and service to the community. Please note that teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. Assistant Professor. Salary depends on education and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization. Anticipated salary:

$7,219 to $7,481

monthly; ( $86,628 to $89,772

annually). Date of Appointment:

Fall Semester, 2026. Qualifications

Required An earned doctorate in kinesiology or a related discipline with specialized training in sport, physical activity, or human movement. ABD candidates will be considered if they complete all requirements by August 2026. Expertise and ability to teach biomechanics and musculoskeletal anatomy. Commitment to student engagement, mentoring, and success. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism across teaching, scholarship, and service. Preferred Appreciation of a cross-disciplinary approach to kinesiology. Experience with students from diverse backgrounds. Experience supervising undergraduates and graduates. Active engagement in the professional community of the discipline. Candidates should demonstrate experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or community service contributing to diversity and excellence, and a record of scholarly activity.
