Job Overview The Process Technician is responsible for supporting the manufacturing process(es) that he/she is assigned to.

Responsibilities and Duties

Supports the process operators in their daily duties and serves as occasional operator backup.

Improves process performance by refining production methods, optimizing equipment efficiency, process capability and yields, and reducing waste and changeover time.

Improves process quality by improving first pass and overall yield, eliminates rework and scrap and monitors the overall process quality in conjunction with the quality department.

Implements corrective actions to support process improvement efforts and ensure root‑cause analysis translates into process improvements when appropriate.

Investigates and resolves external customer issues (RMA).

Establishes robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters and process controls.

Develops, sustains and improves machine programs and maintains machine database.

Ensures maximum uptime of the equipment, by performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, managing spare parts, performing software backups and calibration.

Assists in lean manufacturing initiatives.

Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge (position requirements at entry)

Working knowledge of shop mathematics is necessary.

Skills (position requirements at entry)

Communication; interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Basic programming skills.

Minimum Requirements

3-5 years minimum experience in electronic assembly manufacturing.

High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

Prior SMT experience or demonstrated learning ability.

Working knowledge of shop mathematics is necessary.

Read, write and understand English language.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years’ in electronics assembly manufacturing.

5+ years’ of SMT machine programming experience.

Computer-literate with basic programming skills.

Knowledge of IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001.

Safety

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

Quality Management System (QMS)

Support and follow all ISO standards. These systems may include, but are not limited to, quality, the environment, health, safety and security.

Supervisory Responsibilities N/A

Physical Requirements

Must be able to frequently lift up to 15 lbs. in an 8 hour shift.

Be able to perform light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.

Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Software used

Microsoft Office

CAD software ERP/MRP

Working Conditions

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.

Production Hours vary by department needs; some overtime is required.

Shift Time 2nd shift: 3:15 p.m. – 11:45 p.m.
