Position : Collection Rep I
Department : Collections
Reports to : Assistant Manager- Collections
FLSA : Non-Exempt Grade:7
SUMMARY Responsible for collecting past due secured and unsecured loans, credit card, and negative shares accounts in a professional, timely, and accurate manner. Assists in the remedy of delinquency by using methods such as phone calls and collection letters.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Works Temenos delinquency queues in a timely and efficient manner
Accepts requests for payment by phone on delinquent or negative accounts
Analyzes accounts to determine the best collection strategy
Set up repayment plans according to ability to pay
Skip traces members who cannot be reached
Submits accounts for repossession
Submits accounts for charge off review
Offsets payments on delinquent accounts and/or as requested by members
Resolves past due accounts with members in a professional manner
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, to provide quality service to internal and external members
Follows credit union policies and procedures to properly identify members (including account ownership) for whom they are conducting transactions or providing account services
Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
Effectively manages a high volume of inbound and outbound calls
Monitors negative share reports daily and performs file maintenance of accounts
Assists employees with inquiries regarding negative share accounts
Performs required file maintenance for manual charge off of negative share accounts, share account closures and revoking overdraft privilege
Must be able to proficiently navigate Temenos and Symitar
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION A high school education or GED.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1 - 2 years Collections experience preferred
Experience with Temenos and Symitar preferred
Must possess a working knowledge of collection laws, strategies, and techniques
Must be familiar with fraud techniques and possess the ability to recognize and report same
Strong analytical, time management and organization skills are preferred
Understanding of Equifax, Experian and Transunion is recommended
Must possess an outgoing personality with a helpful attitude and a well-developed telephone service technique aimed at exceptional member service
Accuracy and attention to detail required
Must always maintain confidentiality and dependability
Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Must possess exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
Excellent record keeping and documentation skills
Performs a variety of financial and regulatory tasks to collect delinquent Residential and Consumer loans ensuring compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act as well as all state and federal lending regulations
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Proficiency with Microsoft products to included but not limited to Word and Excel, as well as use of internet and e-mail
