Location: New York Metro Area (NYC/NJ hubs) Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay: Negotiable (Mileage reimbursed; company vehicle may be provided for some assignments) Application deadline: Jan 19, 2026
Overview TEKsystems is seeking Inside Plant Technicians to support critical network engineering initiatives across the New York Metro area. This role focuses on hub migrations, new device installations, and seeding the network with next‑generation optical equipment. Candidates must have experience working in Hub, Headend, or Central Office environments and understand the importance of maintaining network integrity during migrations—service interruptions are not an option.
Responsibilities
Install and migrate core network devices in hub/headend/CO environments
Perform fiber testing and validate optical paths
Rack and stack network equipment and connect DC power
Input provided configurations into network devices (basic config tasks)
Work on one site per week and move to the next upon completion
Travel between NYC/NJ sites (mileage reimbursed; company car may be provided)
Required Skills
Hands‑on experience in Hub, Headend, or Central Office environments
Fiber optic installation and testing
Rack and stack of network equipment
DC power installation
Familiarity with optical platforms such as Ciena, Adtran, Lucent, Cisco, Juniper
Understanding of core optical networks and service provider environments
Ideal Candidate Profile You are an ISP technician who understands the complexity of a service provider’s core network. You’ve worked in headend or CO environments and know uptime is non‑negotiable. You’re detail‑oriented, comfortable with physical installs and fiber testing, and eager to learn configuration tasks. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
