Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; one year of direct customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Basic working knowledge of the criminal justice system, and considerable skill in verbal and written communication. Must be able to operate a personal computer and related standard office software (e.g., Word, Excel). Ability to deal calmly with highly emotional or stressful situations, and interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages. While not required, individuals with verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
Duties Under minimal general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in providing direct assistance to victims of crimes; occasional court accompaniment.
Examples Of Work
Greet and assist walk‑in clients
Provide general information on Victim/Witness Program services
Provide referral to various service providers
Process victims’ applications to Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund
Research and resolve victims’ issues with court‑ordered restitution
Research and process forensic billings
Perform a variety of office support tasks (e.g. data entry, filing, copying)
Perform other work as required
This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
Shift Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
