Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a BSN Degree with at least two years of ICU and Medical/Surgical experience. This unit has both shifts available, 7am–7pm and 7pm–7am with rotating weekends and holidays.

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) provides excellent opportunities for experienced Oncology nurses to work in a friendly, team‑oriented environment. We assist the hospital to fill staffing needs on a shift‑to‑shift basis. With a continuous change in census and acuity throughout the hospital, the NRP staff is flexible and is trained to provide safe, effective, patient and family‑centered care. We treat a wide range of patients and enjoy the variety of working in different settings. Forty‑two percent of NRP registered nurses are OCN‑certified. NRP nurses also hold certifications in pediatric oncology, pain management, critical care, radiology and medical‑surgical.

Essential Job Functions Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient’s needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient’s family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Work Experience

Required: None.

Licenses and Certifications

Required: RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure (Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license) – Upon Hire.

Required: ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Upon Hire.

Required: PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (if working in Post Anesthesia Care Unit) – Upon Hire.

Preferred: OCN – Oncology Nurse Certification – Upon Hire.

Preferred: Certification in specialty practice area – Upon Hire.

Other Requirements All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
