The Opportunity We’re seeking an experienced

Commissioning Manager

to lead complex control system startup and commissioning activities while supporting project execution from the field. This role owns technical delivery for assigned projects, provides leadership to commissioning teams, and partners closely with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, and customers to ensure quality, schedule, and budget goals are met.

This position is ideal for a senior controls professional who thrives in fast-paced site environments and is comfortable leading teams, troubleshooting complex systems, and serving as a technical point of contact.

What You’ll Do Technical & Commissioning Leadership

Lead startup and commissioning activities for control system projects

Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, SCADA, network, and instrumentation issues

Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and design documents; provide constructability feedback

Guide teams through QMS, safety, and commissioning best practices

Mentor technicians and engineers during startup and troubleshooting

Project Execution & Coordination

Manage day-to-day technical execution for assigned projects or commissioning phases

Delegate tasks, set priorities, and track progress against schedule and budget

Lead daily task meetings, field walkdowns, and end-of-day debriefs

Serve as the technical point of contact for customers during commissioning

Identify scope changes, risks, and schedule impacts; elevate as needed

Support manpower planning, lookaheads, and detailed task scheduling

Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain accurate schedules and reporting

What You Bring Education & Experience

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

7+ years of controls engineering, commissioning, or system integration experience

Technical Skills

Strong PLC/HMI/SCADA troubleshooting and commissioning expertise

Solid understanding of complex control system design and field execution

Familiarity with industrial networks, instrumentation, and startup sequencing

Working knowledge of QA/QC and Quality Management Systems (QMS)

Professional Skills

Clear communicator who remains composed under pressure

Strong leadership presence in field environments

Proactive problem solver who adapts to changing site conditions

Committed to technical excellence and continued development

Travel & Requirements

Travel required up to 50%, including overnight stays

On-call rotation participation may be required based on project needs

Valid driver’s license and authorization to work required
