Duties and Responsibilities Performs and interprets CLIA-waived laboratory tests.
Assists medical staff, takes blood pressures and interacts with patients.
Coordinates, interprets & tracks outside testing.
Performs EKGs.
Communicates relevant information and lab results to the appropriate staff.
Maintains records as mandated by state.
Performs quality control.
Checks and records internal QC daily.
Prepares and completes disinfection of various medical instruments.
Orders supplies.
Provides front desk relief as needed.
Assists in immunization record keeping.
Performs Fit testing on staff.
Occasional travel required to Health Sciences campus Wellness Center to cover for staff absences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Applied Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Assistant; MLT – ASCP, CLT - NCA, or appropriate certification, CPR Certification and one-three years of experience working in a laboratory performing tests and providing data for use in diagnosis.
Qualifications Proficient in venipuncture technique.
Ability to follow established lab procedures including urine dip and micro, rapid strep, rapid flu, mono, pregnancy and glucose tests and any other point of care testing.
Ability to recognize unusual lab results and changes in condition.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses Certified Medical Assistant
Computer Skills Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office suite; adept user of Internet, e-mail and other office automation systems.
