Cleaver-Brooks is seeking a

Product Engineer

to support the technical performance, lifecycle management, and profitability of our product portfolio within the Genuine Parts business in

Milwaukee, WI.

This role provides engineering expertise to support quoting accuracy, product lifecycle data integrity, and cross‑functional collaboration with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Service, and Sales teams. The Product Engineer will support one or more product lines depending on experience and will play a key role in ensuring technical accuracy, improving support processes, and enabling Specialists and Analysts to serve representatives effectively. The level of this role (Product Engineer I, II, III, or Senior) will be determined based on experience, technical depth, and demonstrated capability.

Essential Functions Product Support & Technical Expertise

Provide technical support for assigned product lines, including quote validation and specification review.

Research and interpret drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy.

Serve as a technical escalation point for Specialists and Analysts based on experience level.

Support complex or high‑value technical inquiries as appropriate for role level.

Lifecycle Data & Product Maintenance

Maintain and improve product lifecycle data within ERP systems.

Identify and correct BOM, drawing, and documentation issues.

Support part substitutions, data corrections, and lifecycle updates to sustain product availability and profitability.

Participate in initiatives to improve data accuracy and lifecycle processes.

Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support

Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to address part availability, feasibility, and sourcing issues.

Collaborate with Service teams to analyze recurring field issues and identify improvement opportunities.

Support Project Engineers and product teams with technical expertise as needed.

Communicate technical updates clearly across functions.

Knowledge Sharing & Enablement

Develop documentation, guides, tools, and FAQs to improve quoting speed and accuracy.

Share product knowledge to enable Specialists and Analysts to resolve cases more efficiently.

Mentor junior Product Engineers and support onboarding efforts based on experience level.

Contribute to continuous improvement of product support practices.

Quotes, BOMs, and lifecycle data are correct and reliable.

Errors and rework related to technical inaccuracies are reduced over time.

Improve speed and efficiency

Specialists and Analysts are able to resolve cases faster due to better documentation, tools, and guidance.

Recurring technical questions decrease as reusable solutions are developed.

Strengthen cross‑functional collaboration

Product Engineering is viewed as a trusted partner by Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Service, and Sales teams.

Technical issues are resolved with a clear understanding of business and operational impact.

Own and improve product knowledge

Demonstrates growing depth across assigned product lines.

Proactively identifies lifecycle or data issues and drives improvements rather than reacting to problems.

Scale impact with experience

At higher levels, success includes mentoring others, leading lifecycle initiatives, influencing product improvements, and supporting strategic or high‑impact opportunities.

Scope Based on Experience Depending on experience and level, this role may include:

Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned products

Leading lifecycle maintenance initiatives

Mentoring other engineers and support teams

Influencing product improvements and technical strategy

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to manage technical details while understanding business impact.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in product engineering, aftermarket support, manufacturing, or technical product support.

Familiarity with ERP systems, BOM management, and lifecycle data.

Experience supporting products across their full lifecycle.

Exposure to cross‑functional work with Supply Chain, Service, or Manufacturing teams.
