The OEM Interior Chemist completes the work that supports current business needs while also assisting with the technical efforts necessary to grow the business unit. Reporting to the OEM Interior Group Leader, the Chemist II will have opportunities to demonstrate leadership while providing support to internal and external customers. This role will be located at Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

This position is responsible for the support of the OEM Interior Maintenance of Business activities.

Supports Sales initiatives with established product lines.

Optimizes existing formulas to improve production capability and reproducibility.

Improves current product lines for higher performance per customer requests and/or cost reduction.

Supports Development team during commercialization and launch of new product lines.

Investigates customer complaints and addresses manufacturing concerns.

Supports continuous improvement and value‑capture activities.

Adheres to company safety guidelines at all times.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.

3 years of coating related experience.

Experience working with products and technologies including, but not limited to, 1K, 2K, primer, monocoat, basecoat/clearcoat systems both solvent borne and waterborne.

Experience leading projects and interacting with other functional groups.

Project‑management experience.

Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math ("STEM") field.

5 years 1K + 2K coatings experience.

Expert understanding of waterborne and solvent borne chemistries.

Demonstrated ability applying structure‑property relationships to achieve project goals.

Strong analytical problem‑solving skills, including root‑cause analysis.

DFSS.

DOE.

Understanding of 1K + 2K solvent and waterborne coating formulation.

Travel Requirements: 10%

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
