Job Overview Design AirPro products in 3D to a sales order using SolidWorks, PDM, and Driveworks projects. Prepare drawings as needed to define and manufacture the product and process the order. Processing the order may include notifying purchasing of long‑lead time items that are required; communicating to sales the details of the customer’s product and responding to their feedback; creating items and bills‑of‑materials in the business software; and monitoring the order’s progress through the company. Additional responsibilities include completing projects as assigned, dealing with field service issues, and designing complex and specification‑heavy orders.
Position Requirements
Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D design and drafting program and PDM software
Ability to use AutoCAD 2D drawing program
Experience in entering items and Bills of Material accurately into ERP program
Good grasp of engineering concepts/principles related to material properties and mechanics
Ability to perform assignments with instruction regarding tasks required and expected results, generally under minimal supervision from managers or higher‑graded personnel
Ability to respond to all inquiries from other internal departments or manufacturing personnel. Includes resolving design and drafting issues with manufacturing personnel and resolving order submittal errors with sales/order‑entry personnel
Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions in a fast‑paced environment
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to think critically and solve problems
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Physical Requirements May lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Involves a variety of movements including sitting, standing, walking, and contorting as needed to work in awkward positions while working to fully understand and/or solve issues. Noise level is usually moderate to high. Majority of the work is done indoors.
Job Duties & Skills
Performs engineering/design function analysis including bearing analysis, critical speed analysis, vibration analysis of structures, a variety of mathematic calculations using standard procedure, and material stress analysis using related software and tools
Determines and specifies special purchased parts in business ERP. May require contacting vendors, resolving technical details, and setting up info for purchasing
Address engineering‑related manufacturing concerns and potential improvements
Respond to customer service issues, including mechanical issues and air performance concerns
Using specifications, sketches and customer layout drawings, generates final drawings of fans and related air handling equipment, including certified prints for customer submittals and manufacturing drawings for fabrication or purchase. Documentation is produced in SolidWorks.
Verifies dimensional integrity of part details, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure or project
Draws finished 3D designs and assembly and detail drawings for special sales orders or changes to standard products
Processes drawing corrections and design change requests as required
Communicates with manufacturing personnel to resolve design issues or questions, including Bills of Materials
Communicates with sales personnel and other departments to resolve insufficient information on order and other order‑related issues
Processes all jobs including those requiring extensive layouts, demanding visualization skills, and design calculations for all types of AirPro products
Ideally possesses strong self‑motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate others. Consistently drives continuous improvement and organizational goals
Provides informal mentoring to other team members by answering questions and cultivating a team environment and open communication culture
Ensures quality standards and processes are used
Ensures safety guidelines are being met
Uses approved safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection when in the shop
Performs all job duties in a manner safe to self and others
Performs other duties as assigned
