Market & Food Access Coordinator

The Market & Food Access Coordinator will support the Bhutanese Community of Central Ohio (BCCO) Food & Agriculture Program by strengthening local food access, running market operations, and supporting refugee, SIV, Asylee and New American growers participating in community farming initiatives. This role plays a key part in helping refugee and immigrant families access markets, improve economic opportunities, and strengthen healthy food systems across Central Ohio.
Key Responsibilities Market & Community Garden Operations
Oversee day‑to‑day management of community gardens, including outreach, assigning plots, season planning, and infrastructure maintenance.
Coordinate and manage weekly farmers markets, farm stands, and selling events during summer months.
Aggregate produce from growers and complete quality checks before the market.
Maintain relationships with buyers, local groceries, wholesale partners, and community food access networks.
Conduct outreach to program participants from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
Assist growers with post‑harvest handling, packaging, pricing, and sales readiness.
Provide one‑on‑one technical assistance to growers as needed.
Coordinate workshops throughout the growing season.
Assist growers in accessing seeds, tools, soil amendments, and other inputs.
Data, Reporting & Administration
Track program data including produce sold, grower participation, and market income.
Attend monthly Food Access Partners meetings.
Assist with grant writing or proposal contributions.
Prepare quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual reports summarizing program progress.
Maintain organized records and files using Google Workspace.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in marketing, food systems, community outreach, agriculture, or related work OR education in Business, Marketing, Agriculture, science, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
Experience using Google Workspace: Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the nonprofit sector.
Basic grant writing or proposal writing experience.
Knowledge of local food systems, farmers markets, or small‑scale agriculture.
Ability to speak a second language commonly used in the New American community (e.g., Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Pashto, Dari, etc.).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30‑40 lbs. for produce and supplies handling.
Ability to work outdoors during market season.
Occasional evening or weekend hours for special events.
Salary range ~ $45k‑$50k.
Paid time off, holidays, and health insurance.
