Job Overview The Senior Technical Designer will be accountable for the technical development of apparel from initial concept through final production. This role owns fit, construction, and quality execution across all product categories, partnering closely with Design, Sourcing, and Production.
This role requires a deep understanding of performance and lifestyle apparel across Mens and Womens, with a day to day focus on Womens. The Senior Technical Designer will balance technical precision with elevated streetwear aesthetics while also helping modernize the technical design process through the adoption of digital and AI driven tools.
This role will serve as a technical leader and point of escalation for fit, construction, and quality decisions across key product categories.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the creation and accuracy of technical packages, including detailed specs, construction details, and fit comments.
Drive fit consistency and standards across all categories through fit sessions and block development.
Partner with cross functional teams to support design intent while ensuring manufacturability and cost targets are met.
Collaborate with global vendors and factories to troubleshoot construction challenges and resolve fit or quality issues.
Lead fit sessions on live models or forms, providing clear feedback to internal teams and vendors.
Ensure all tech packs and graded specs are accurate and released on time for development and production.
Implement and evolve processes to improve efficiency and consistency in the technical development lifecycle.
Identify and implement opportunities to leverage digital and AI tools to streamline technical development, improve accuracy, reduce sampling, and support faster decision making.
Stay informed of industry best practices, technology innovation, and competitor benchmarking to continuously improve product and process.
Partner with Quality Assurance teams in the factory to identify and implement Sergio Tacchini standards, looking for opportunities for continuous improvement based on customer feedback, return rates, and online reviews.
Support the build out and scaling of technical design processes, standards, and documentation to support a growing product pipeline and increasing development volume.
Required Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
Technical design experience in apparel at Senior level.
A natural problem solver with a solution centric mindset.
Highly organized with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend clear technical solutions.
Strong interest and hands on experience using digital and AI driven software to improve workflow efficiency and product accuracy.
Deep understanding of garment construction, pattern, grading, and fit standards.
Proficient in PLM systems and Adobe Illustrator; 3D design software knowledge is a plus (CLO, Browzwear, or similar).
Strong communication skills and confidence leading cross functional discussions and making clear decisions.
Experience working with overseas factories and managing multiple product categories.
