The estimated annual salary range for this role is $32.00 – $37.00 per hour. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications and prior experience.
Overview JBT/Marel Corporation is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machine Shop Lead to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in overseeing operations in our machine shop, with a primary focus on CNC lathe work (70%) and CNC mill work (30%). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both CNC and manual machining processes, with expertise in programming and operating Mazak equipment using Mazatrol, as well as offline programming with Mastercam.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machining
Lead and perform CNC lathe operations (70% focus) and CNC mill operations (30% focus).
Program and operate CNC machines using Mazatrol as needed.
Develop and optimize offline CNC programs and setup sheets using Mastercam to improve efficiency and precision.
Manual Machining
Operate manual lathes and mills mainly in a secondary machining capacity.
Ensure precision and accuracy in manual machining tasks.
Secondary Operations
Perform secondary operations such as drilling, tapping, grinding, and deburring as needed.
Tooling and Fixturing
Select and set up appropriate tooling and fixtures for various machining tasks. Ability to select correct feeds and speed, depth of cut based on different material type to maximize productivity.
Shop Management
Monitor daily operations and maintain a schedule to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Coordinate with team members to keep the shop on track and meet production goals.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise in the machining process.
Order any necessary tooling, material, or equipment to meet performance goals.
Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Conduct routine preventative maintenance and minor machine repairs.
Sharpen tools and ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
Quality Assurance
Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
Use all types of manual inspection equipment to ensure product quality.
Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance quality and efficiency.
Documentation
Develop setup sheets for each part with clear instructions on setup, machining operations, tooling, and running instruction to achieve part consistently.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in running CNC machines.
Strong understanding of tooling, fixturing, feeds, speeds, materials etc.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain a daily schedule.
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.

Spends majority of time in a manufacturing environment which is not air‑conditioned. Exposure to possible hazards includes lifting objects, occasional noise and forklift traffic.
