Civil Construction Superintendent Position Summary The Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all phases of assigned civil construction projects. This role leads job‑site operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and cost control. The Superintendent coordinates labor, subcontractors, materials, and equipment while ensuring all work is executed in accordance with contract documents, specifications, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all daily job‑site operations, including scheduling, coordination, supervision, and inspection of subcontractors, suppliers, labor, materials, and work quality.

Enforce site safety programs and OSHA standards, ensuring full compliance by all subcontractors and field personnel.

Monitor project schedules and costs to ensure completion on time and within budget.

Serve as the primary liaison between project management, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and owners' representatives.

Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop field staff, including foremen and crew members.

Review and interpret all contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

Ensure construction activities conform to approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Identify and resolve construction issues, conflicts, and field conditions as they arise.

Provide technical guidance on construction methods, sequencing, and equipment usage.

Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure quality, productivity, and schedule adherence.

Identify potential scope changes or site condition issues and communicate them to project leadership.

Assist with preparation of internal and external project reports, updates, and documentation.

Coordinate work across all trades to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.

Ensure compliance with ethics, company policies, and required training programs.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil construction supervision or related roles.

Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Solid understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.

Experience with schedule management, cost control, and basic construction accounting.

Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.

Proven leadership, communication, and team‑management skills.

Ability to build and maintain long‑term relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand and walk job sites for extended periods.

Ability to climb ladders and navigate active construction environments.

Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and access all areas of a job site.

Ability to pass a respiratory fit test.
