Departmental Analyst – 9 & 12 Levels

Responsibilities:

Conduct research and analysis on medical and legal evidence necessary to effectively operate the Third Party Liability (TPL) Estate Recovery program and other special liability recovery efforts.

Prepare reports and correspondence seeking reimbursement of Medicaid expenditures from legally liable sources.

Design, implement, and maintain computer‑based data collections related to Estate Recovery and, for level 12, to Probate and Mass Tort recoveries.

Test new TPL Electronic Database (TED) functions and provide enhancement recommendations.

Develop and prepare recommendations on alternative State and departmental strategies to resolve issues regarding recovery actions.

Provide consultation and coordination of the DHHS Estate Recovery program with multiple State and federal agencies.

Assist with development of unit protocols, reporting mechanisms, auditing methodology, and compliance measurements.

Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Departmental Analyst 9: No specific type or amount required.

Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year equivalent to the intermediate (10) level.

Departmental Analyst 12: Three years of professional experience, including one year equivalent to the experienced (P11) level.

Location & Remote Work The physical location of this position is 400 S Pine Street, Lansing, MI. Remote work and alternative work schedules may be considered within established limits. Selected candidates authorized to work remotely must complete that work within Michigan. Employees will be provided computers; phones may also be supplied. Remote employees must provide: a secure work location, high‑speed internet of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
