About the Role Position:
Behavior Technician (RBT in Training)

Location: 1330 Ashleybrook Lane, Winston‑Salem, NC 27103 (Center‑Based)
Opal Autism Centers is dedicated to fostering an environment where aspiring professionals can learn and grow in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). As a Registered Behavior Technician in Training, you will embark on a rewarding journey to become a certified RBT while gaining hands‑on experience in providing essential support to children with autism and their families. This role offers mentorship from experienced Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and the opportunity to learn the principles of behavior analysis in a supportive and dynamic workplace.
Training Schedule & Certification Requirements All new hires are compensated at a flat training rate of $11.00/hour during the training period. Once the RBT certification is obtained and client sessions begin, the pay rate will increase to the agreed‑upon rate within the employment offer letter.
RBT with an expired certification or Behavior Technician with a Valid 40‑Hour RBT Training Certificate of Completion
Weeks 1-2: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM
Week 3: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM
Candidate Without a 40‑Hour RBT Training Certificate of Completion
Weeks 1-2: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM
Weeks 3-4: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM
If you are already enrolled in an external RBT training program but have not completed the 40‑hour training and obtained your certificate of completion by your employment start date, you will be enrolled into Opal's RBT training program and be required to complete the full training program (no exceptions).
Responsibilities
Participate in and complete the 40‑hour RBT training program to develop knowledge and skills in behavior analysis
Shadow and assist RBTs and BCBAs in implementing treatment plans
Collect and record electronic data on client behaviors and progress
Engage clients in therapeutic activities to facilitate their learning and growth
Communicate with families about their child's daily progress
Attend team meetings and training sessions to further your understanding of ABA principles
Maintain adherence to ethical guidelines and regulations per BACB guidelines
Requirements
Passion for working with children and individuals with special needs
High school diploma or GED; further education in psychology, special education, or related fields is a plus
Willingness to complete the RBT training program and attain certification
Ability to obtain CPR certification before your employment start date
Ability to pass a criminal background check
Commitment to ethical standards in behavior analysis practice
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desire to learn and grow professionally in the field of behavior analysis
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment
Physical ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs and sit/stand/squat throughout the day
Comfortable working fully on‑site in a center‑based setting
