Legislative Assistant (Temporary) - DFL Caucus
Temporary full‑time Legislative Assistant position with the DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives provides a variety of office, legislative, and constituent service duties for assigned DFL members. Duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling, constituent services, some casework, and bill tracking.
Position requires excellent typing, spelling, and grammatical skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. Position involves frequent public contact and regular communication with constituents, interested individuals, and legislative staff. Strong customer service and good communication skills required, as well as the ability to be self‑directed and remain focused to achieve short‑ and long‑term work goals. PC experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office necessary.
Understanding of state government and the legislative process helpful but not required. BA/BS desired.

Customer service and communication with constituents and staff
Self‑directed and able to achieve short‑ and long‑term goals
PC and Microsoft Office proficiency
Knowledge of legislative process advantageous
This is an hourly, at‑will position that works in person. Benefits include earned sick and safe time, paid holidays based on hours worked, and earned non‑exempt overtime. Starting classification and hourly rate commensurate with relevant experience. Legislative Assistant I‑IV hourly range is $23.82‑$58.61 per hour commensurate with experience. The starting salary range for an entry‑level Legislative Assistant I is generally between $23.82 and $26.20 per hour, depending on relevant experience.
