Akkodis is recruiting for a

Mechanical Design Engineer

for a manufacturer in Gainesville, TX. This is an onsite contract position paid $43–$47 per hour, depending on education, experience and location.

Responsibilities

Coordinate design of seats and seat components, interfacing with customers and vendors.

Liaise with Program Manager on project development and design progress.

Review customer requirements and specifications, ensuring they are incorporated into product design.

Monitor day‑to‑day design progress to meet engineering deadlines.

Make independent decisions with minimal supervision.

Prepare lay‑outs of overall design tasks, including structural and articulation systems.

Define design standards to maintain commonality with existing product lines.

Set goals for completing tasks as expeditiously as possible.

Prepare advanced bill of materials and long‑lead item lists.

Verify design packages for conformity to latest specifications and regulations.

Produce drawings for release.

Act as liaison when products reach manufacturing stages.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience is considered in lieu of a Bachelor's).

Master's degree in any of the above disciplines is also acceptable.

Work Experience – Technical Knowledge

Additional 5 years of related design experience required with a Bachelor's degree; 4 years with a Master's.

Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.

Advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.

Good knowledge of materials, production processes, and mechanical stress analysis.

Ability to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments.

Experience with APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan, etc.

Pay Details $43.00 to $47.00 per hour.
