Join us as an Electrical Inspector and Plans Examiner, responsible for ensuring compliance with electrical codes and regulations for construction projects in the Miami‑Dade County, Florida area.
Location Miami‑Dade County, Florida
Responsibilities
Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.
Relay technical information to owners, applicants, contractors, and municipal clients.
Respond to inquiries regarding compliance with electrical codes.
Implement enforcement procedures to correct violations under client jurisdiction.
Operate as an effective team player and utilize collaborative decision‑making to resolve issues.
Coordinate with client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors on code compliance.
Prepare written work products such as correction notices or correspondence to property owners and contractors.
Perform technical inspections and reviews of plans for commercial and residential structures.
Participate in discussions concerning code interpretations.
Attend training to improve technical and interpersonal skills.
Respond to inquiries from client jurisdictions and the public regarding code interpretations.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city clients, builders, designers, and the public.
Analyze complex issues and make timely decisions.
Perform plan reviews for residential and commercial plans for conformance with applicable codes.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) in electrical; or
State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in electrical; or
State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in electrical; or
ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in electrical; or
Possession of the Journeyman Electrician Certificate and four years of experience as a journeyman electrician.
Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations.
Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals.
Certified or certifiable as a Plans Examiner by the Miami Dade or Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) is a plus.
Compensation Salary: commensurate with experience and licensure.
