Job Title
Full‑time HVAC Technician – West Texas
Location TAMU West Texas – 2401 Russell Long Boulevard, Canyon, TX 79016. (Openings at other district locations. Online applications only.)
Schedule Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm. Full and part‑time flexibility available.
Pay US$14.00 to US$21.00 per hour.
Requirements Prior commercial HVAC experience required.
Key Responsibilities
Update work statuses and document tasks in the CMMS using a mobile device.
Help determine manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs and projects.
Clean, lubricate, service, repair, and diagnose malfunctions of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems, as well as sterilizers, food service equipment, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, and fire alarm systems.
Assist in making decisions on all repairs and report major problems to the Maintenance Supervisor, Foreman, or Manager as appropriate.
Construct, finish, install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems or related facilities, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
Review outside vendor projects and create punch lists.
Analyze and correct complex building system problems and electro‑mechanical problems related to utilities.
Support project management activities as needed.
Respond to emergency problems and perform emergency repairs.
Maintain logs, perform rounds, and complete preventive maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections.
Make recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
Maintain shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Five years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting within engineering or maintenance.
One of the following: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA refrigerant certification, or Journeyman Plumber License.
Experience with blueprints and schematics.
Valid driver’s license.
General understanding of electro‑mechanical equipment.
Rudimentary ability to use hand‑operated construction equipment.
Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and perform strenuous labor—including kneeling, bending, and stooping—for extended periods.
Working Conditions Some exposure to high heat, noise, dust, dirt, and infection‑control areas. Must meet daily work deadlines and be available for overtime, weekends, and nights as required to maintain facility safety and operations.
