Maintenance Mechanic

Job Overview The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive and corrective maintenance on high‑speed can manufacturing equipment, including Bodymakers, Necker, Washer, Decorator, Palletizer, and conveying systems. This role supports the Mechanical Supervisor by troubleshooting mechanical issues, completing assigned work orders, and ensuring equipment reliability to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

What You Will Do
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and support systems.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Support equipment rebuilds, installations, and adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
Assist in changeovers and machine setups as needed.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) & Reliability:
Follow PM schedules in accordance with the plant’s maintenance system.
Document all work performed, including inspections, repairs, and parts usage.
Identify recurring issues and elevate to the Mechanical Supervisor for root cause analysis.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to OSHA, GMP, and company safety standards.
Follow Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) procedures when working on equipment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with mechanics, engineers, and production teams to resolve cross‑functional issues.
Communicate repair status and needs to the Mechanical Supervisor.
Assist in spare parts handling and reporting shortages.
Support continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
Qualifications And Skills
Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, welding, and mechanical systems.
Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues quickly.
OSHA, Forklift, or other relevant safety certification (a plus).
Education And Experience
High School diploma or equivalent (required); technical degree or certification in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance (preferred).
2–4 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, preferably in metal packaging, beverage cans, or related industries.
