Position Overview Primary Purpose of Position:
The Security Manager is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the NC A&T University Police Security Division, which includes permanent full-time and contract employees. The Security Manager utilizes professional leadership practices and problem‑solving techniques in a collaborative manner to develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain Security standards. In performing these duties, the Security Manager continually analyzes the Security needs of the university community to determine the optimal levels of manpower, distribution of personnel, and work schedules. This process includes coordinating with the Patrol Supervisors & Crime Prevention Officer to have Security surveys conducted at University facilities upon request, and personally conducting Security assessments to develop Security plans for locations that wish to take advantage of the services offered by the Security Division.
Exercise oversight authority for all aspects of Security related investigations, training, operations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all government and University Security operations, implementing best practices and risk management principles.
This position will supervise all uniformed personnel (State Resident Hall Officers and Day Time Property Security Officers) who are responding to calls for service.
Review contract compliance with Contract Security Account Manager on a regular basis.
Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, risks, vulnerabilities, and threats to University safety and Security in the development of appropriate safety and Security strategy.
Proactively assist organization's senior leadership in identifying and assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, risks, vulnerabilities and complex threats to Security operations.
Manage the evaluation of all Security staff and organization personnel with Security duties.
Oversee the performance of Security personnel on special event, contract, and all other State Security personnel.
Manage the investigation and correction of all Security compliance issues.
Provide budget information and assist in forecasting requirements.
Develop relationships with stakeholder and maintain liaison with appropriate stakeholders as well as peers in the public and private sector.
Serve on committees and boards related to safety and Security.
Support and assist the University Police Department in their mission and vision for NC A&T State University.

Establishes partnerships with other university departments, including the Office of Student Conduct, Housing and the Behavior Assessment Team in order to ensure that Concerned Behavior cases are properly managed and to prevent future acts of violence.
Communication and Public Relations
Liaison between NC A&T University Police Department and Contracted Security.
Serves as departmental liaison to internal units, including the, the Office of Student etc.
Reviews and re‑writes Standard Operation Procedures to ensure compliance with best practices in Security standards and University expectations.

Make recommendations on further investigation or disposition of complaint to UPD administration.
Attend Housing & Residence Life meetings regarding safety and Security concerns.
Discuss and address Security staff changes and increases with Housing & Residence Life administrators.
Homecoming committee, planning, organizing and staffing.
Assist with Freshmen Move In planning, organizing and staffing.
UPD special projects.
Ensure all Security Officers are trained properly.
Schedule In‑Service Training.
Seek and implement best practice for College Safety and Security.
Managing Work Processes
Oversee contract security compliance and accounts payable to ensure effectiveness of security services and the accuracy of invoice statements.
Coordinate event security staffing requirements for internal and external events, which also includes scheduling all contracts security services for events.
Assist with the planning, organizing, and execution of a variety of University events, including but not limited to New Student Move‑In, Chancellor's Speaker Series, Homecoming events.
Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure safety and security issues and concerns are appropriately addressed in a timely manner.
