Department Senate Information Systems
Reports To Director of Senate Information Systems (SIS)

Position Summary The Desktop Support Specialist installs, modifies and configures computers, network printers, cabling and related hardware for networks, and provides technical assistance to system users. Coordinates activities related to Help Desk Services and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
Offer technical support and assistance to Senators and staff.
Create and update tickets in the help desk system.
Assist in resolving IT problems via email, phone, in person, or forward problems to the appropriate person.
Work with the Minnesota Senate inventory system to accurately track assets.
Assist in organizing department workspace, processing returned equipment, and cleaning equipment for redeployment.
Assist with the installation of laptops and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printer drivers, etc.
Receive inquiries from users having problems using computer software, hardware, or the network.
Work with vendors to service and repair printers, laptops, monitors, etc.
Assist staff with virtual meeting software and dedicated Microsoft Teams Rooms.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related area of study.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Windows 11, macOS, iPhone, Android.
Experience supporting hybrid meetings using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Strong technical support skills.
Strong work ethic and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with Senate staff and information system team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to solve problems.
Strong attention to detail in completing technical tasks.
Use of discretion and confidentiality.
Reliable and trustworthy.
Ability to work on multiple projects and move between multiple platforms based on changing priorities.
May be requested to work long and late hours during the legislative session.
