HII
Role Overview
We’re building tomorrow’s fleet today. With more than 11,000 employees, HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Division is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama. We design, build and maintain amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.
The Role Test Engineers review the System Test Requirements provided by Contract Specification and Engineering Department, gather equipment and system performance specifications for each construction contract, and incorporate those specifications into a structured test philosophy and approach. They provide operational test with test instructions and procedures that demonstrate equipment and system performance to the external customer and comply with the contract specifications. Test Engineers identify test documents required to be developed, prepare and write the Test Procedure (TP), and use control processes for problem reporting, ensuring quality feedback and maintaining records of Test Verification Records. They design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment, plan and arrange labor, schedules, and equipment for testing, provide test area parameters, compile data, and define changes required in testing equipment, procedures or manufacturing processes. They are responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
