Role Overview Test Engineers are responsible for reviewing the System Test Requirements provided by the Contract Specification and Engineering Department, gathering equipment and system performance specifications for each construction contract, incorporating those specifications into a structured test philosophy and approach, and providing Operational Test with Test Instructions and Procedures that adequately demonstrate equipment and system performance to the external customer while complying with the specifications and contract.
The Test Engineer identifies the test documents required to be developed (Test Index), prepares and writes the Test Procedure (TP), and applies control processes for problem reporting to ensure quality feedback. The engineer maintains records that reflect Test Verification Records (Test Reports) in compliance with contract specifications, quality management, and test requirements.
Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges labor, schedules, and equipment for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Provides test area parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data, defines changes required in testing equipment, procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
Must Have
Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and 5 years of related professional experience.
Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience.
No Ph.D. required. Alternatively, HS/GED with 12 years of related experience.
Nice to Have
12 years shipbuilding/shipboard experience.
Experience with technical writing, ship board certifications, EOSS, and technical manuals with ship specifications.
Prior leadership experience.
Ability to interact and present information verbally and in writing to internal and external customers.
