Working under the maintenance manager, the maintenance mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing our industrial machinery, to ensure continuous operation and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. In this role, the mechanic will respond to trouble calls, repair breakdowns, and promote preventative maintenance. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, communication, analytical, troubleshooting, interpersonal, and team building skills to support site objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine maintenance and inspections of industrial machinery.
Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to prevent equipment downtime.
Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks, accurately and timely.
Receiving work from manager and carrying out assigned duties timely and accurately.
Responds to breakdown trouble calls and brings machines back to accurate running state. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing problems related to electrical and mechanical equipment or process failures.
Participate and collaborate with operations personnel to ensure efficient production and minimize downtime.
Dismantle, repair and reassemble gear boxes, conveyors, pumps, cylinders, valves, drives, etc.
Read and understand electrical schematics/ mechanical blueprints.
Maintain company documentation as needed.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing maintenance.
Technical or vocational training preferred
Proficient in machining, welding preferred
Proficient with CMMS preferred
Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-workers and/or mechanic devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. The employee will be handling items that may be very hot. The noise level is usually moderate. Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and occasionally Holidays.
