Overview
This position is only open to Colorado state residents. New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year. Responsibilities
Transportation Maintenance III (TM III) position is a working Supervisor with responsibilities above and beyond regular maintenance duties. Responsible for the overall maintenance and operations of a geographic area within the Region, supporting major patrol decisions to plan, develop, administer, and manage programs such as MS-4 regulations and EPA requirements. React in emergency situations, such as avalanches and road failures. Signature authority for expenditures, approval authority for employee credit card use, expense report approval, supply ordering approval, and leave approval; at the Supervisory level may recommend staffing, equipment purchases, regional policy changes, and more. Maintain strong working relationships with LTC Ops I and support higher level decisions. Perform duties such as planning, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing maintenance activities to meet service levels within region budgets. Additional duties
Ensure a safe and healthy work environment; plan and review work for Transportation Maintenance Worker II and other staff; ensure compliance with policies, laws, rules, and regulations. Coordinate with other Transportation Maintenance Supervisors and LTC Ops; supervise maintenance activities via staffing, equipment, and products within region dollars. Lead employees through training, mentoring, coaching; monitor performance and address issues. Supervise snow and ice control programs; assist in emergency response incidents and coordinate with State Patrol and other agencies. Represent CDOT with municipalities, counties, and the public; perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment
Exposure to loud noise; exposure to fumes, odors, gases, dusts; use of PPE; work with chemicals and cleaning products; respirator requirements for some equipment. Work near heavy traffic; use ladders and elevated work up to 10–20 feet; operate heavy equipment; drive CDOT vehicles; exposure to high voltage; some positions may be nights or weekends. Emergency responses outside regular hours; overtime including weekends/holidays; work in extreme temperatures and elevations up to 12,000 feet; computer use required; average 40-hour work week with potential overtime. Minimum Qualifications
At least five (5) years of road/highway maintenance experience, including two (2) years as an official work lead over a maintenance crew. Examples of road/highway maintenance experience include pothole repair, asphalt/concrete paving, operation of heavy equipment, maintaining right-of-way fences, striping, mowing, bridge/ditch/culvert maintenance, signage/guardrail, snow removal, traffic control, and more. Examples of work lead experience include leading and mentoring at least two full-time employees, setting goals, assigning tasks, ensuring safety, and handling emergencies. Equivalent classifications may include Highway Maintenance Worker II, Equipment Operator IV, etc. Preferred Qualifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes that allows operation within Colorado. If you have a non-Colorado CDL, you must be eligible to drive in Colorado at time of hire and transfer to Colorado within 30 days of relocation. Must pass pre-employment screening (various checks) and may be subject to drug testing and a DOT medical exam. On-call work, shift work, essential services designation; may need to live within 30 minutes of work location to respond timely. New employees receive two weeks of maintenance training; veteran employees may have annual training. May require Hazardous Materials endorsement within 6 months to 1 year.
