UT MAIN CAMPUS Purpose:
Assist in the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of low and medium voltage metal‑enclosed and metal‑clad switchgear, underground, exposed, and overhead distribution systems, raceways, cable systems, lighting systems, and emergency systems. Responsibilities
Assist in installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of low/medium velocity switchgear, distribution systems, cable systems, lighting, and emergency systems. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on low/medium‑voltage circuit breakers; pull and splice medium/low‑voltage cables. Climb high structures to service street and area lighting; operate forklift, bobcat, backhoe, bucket truck, cable trailer, pulling devices, and personnel lifts. Drive UT vehicles with an acceptable driving record per UTS157. Maintain equipment, work areas, and vehicles; keep records of repairs and inventory. Work with trades in power and chill water environments, utility tunnels, and campus buildings. Follow safety policies, report hazards, use PPE, and comply with all University safety standards. Perform elevated, confined‑space, and hazardous‑material work; operate bridge‑cranes, hoists, forklifts as needed. Adhere to UEM core values of safety, respect, integrity, reliability, teamwork, and excellence; work remotely and on campus. Required Qualifications
High school graduation or GED. At least two years of apprentice‑level experience in electrical and industrial equipment operation and maintenance. Current Texas apprentice electrician license, lineman program completion, or attainment within 3 months. Preferred Qualifications
More than two years of experience in a power plant or distribution system. Driving Required
Class “C” driver’s license with a current three‑year driving record. Non‑Texas residents must obtain a Texas driver’s license within 30 days of residency. CDL holders are subject to drug and alcohol testing. Hourly Rate
$28.00 Working Conditions
Attire: Jeans. Electrical work around campus, manholes, and construction areas. Manual dexterity and standing required. Work Shift
Hours per week: 40. Hours: 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 4 days per week: Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday. Required Materials
