Position Summary The Senior Accountant will play a key role in delivering high-quality tax compliance and planning services to individuals and closely held businesses. This role is ideal for an experienced public accountant who is technically strong in tax, comfortable working directly with clients, and able to manage engagements independently while collaborating closely with principals and staff.
Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Planning
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates
Assist with year-round tax planning and advisory services for business owners and high-net-worth individuals
Research complex tax issues and prepare clear, practical recommendations
Ensure compliance with multi-state and local tax requirements as applicable
Client Service
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned tax clients
Respond to client inquiries in a timely, professional, and solutions-oriented manner
Build and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive communication
Engagement & Workflow Management
Manage multiple tax engagements and deadlines, particularly during busy season
Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide coaching and feedback
Coordinate with principals and administrative team to ensure smooth engagement delivery
Firm Support
Assist with special projects, IRS and state correspondence, and notices
Contribute to process improvements and best practices as the firm continues to modernize
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred)
CPA license or CPA-eligible with intent to maintain licensure
5+ years of experience in public accounting with a tax focus
Strong technical knowledge of individual and business taxation
Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred
Experience with closely held businesses
Prior client-facing experience with increasing responsibility
Ability to mentor and review staff-level work
