We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license to join our dynamic team of forensic experts in Southern California. Vehicle Accident Reconstruction experience is required. ACTAR certification is preferred. In this role, you will leverage your technical knowledge and investigative mindset to analyze mechanical systems, mechanical equipment, component failures, and reconstruct accident scenarios, providing clear, defensible conclusions that make a real impact in legal and insurance cases.
As a trusted authority in forensic mechanical engineering and vehicle accident reconstruction, you will work on challenging projects that demand precision, creativity, and critical thinking. From evaluating component failures to interpreting crash dynamics, your expertise will help clients understand what happened—and why. You’ll collaborate with attorneys, insurance professionals, and industry specialists, delivering detailed reports and expert testimony that stand up to scrutiny.

PRIMARY PURPOSE To investigate accident sites, vehicles, and mechanical equipment, researching, documenting evidence and determine damage, and provide clients with expert opinions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts investigations of vehicles, equipment, and accident sites to document evidence and determine scope of damage.
Investigates and assesses damages due to failures and determines the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
Researches, evaluates, analyzes and tests the causation of accidents and failures.
Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to produce detailed reports outlining cause of the accident.
Serves as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.
Documents and maintains billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects for clients.
Collaborates with EFI Global’s national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.
EDUCATION & LICENSING Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university required.
Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
ACTAR certification is preferred.
EXPERIENCE Six (6) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
