As an Insurance Accounts Specialist, you will follow up on patient accounts and confirm the accuracy of those accounts to ensure payor and patient payments are received in an appropriate amount of time. This position is fully in-person and does not offer remote or hybrid opportunities.

Responsibilities

Use investigative skills to determine reasons for aging claims and recognize any trends among these aging claims.

Communicate respectfully with payors and compassionately work with patients to collect payments.

Balance persistence to resolve an account with empathy while maintaining professionalism.

Review and audit aging patient accounts to ensure accurate and timely payments and report any inconsistencies.

Provide exceptional customer service through respectful communication and thorough listening.

Identify errors on accounts and follow through to conclusion.

Communicate timely with payors, collection agencies, coworkers, and patients across multiple personalities.

Verify and obtain all necessary patient insurance and benefit coverage information, supporting other billing department members.

Demonstrate a go‑getter work ethic and readiness to help with additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Sitting for long periods, occasional stooping, bending, and stretching for supplies.

Lifting limited to 30 pounds or less.

Manual dexterity for operating office equipment (keyboard, telephone, copier); adequate vision and hearing for computer screens and customer interactions.

Required Skills & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree in a business‑related field preferred).

Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

At least one year of prior experience in a similar role (accounts receivable, insurance verification, electronic billing).

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum two (2) years combined medical billing and payment experience.

Knowledge of state, federal, and third‑party claims processing.

Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines.

Must complete required e‑learning courses within 90 days of occupying the position.
