About the Position (This is a NON-STATE SERVICE, X‑16 position). The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) seeks to employ an Accounting Team Lead for the Bureau of Internal Audit. At this level, employees manage staff, processes, or programs within a small agency, including the development, evaluation, and revision of auditing/accounting policies and procedures to maintain compliance and strong operations for the agency. This position will design, implement, conduct, review, prepare, and present internal audits. They will be expected to make verbal and written presentations and maintain the IIA standards for Internal Audits. The successful candidate will also oversee subordinate staff within the Bureau of Internal Audit.

What you'll need to be Successful Supervision at this level requires employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen. Candidates must be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office products, demonstrate strong writing and presentation skills, and be able to work with people.

Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5‑6 years of experience. Agency Preferred Qualifications: More than five years' experience as a managing auditor, account manager, or business manager with audit experience is preferred. Related certifications and/or licenses, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Inspector General Auditor, MBA, etc., are preferred.
