My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting functions across three business divisions, with a strong emphasis on retirement, actuarial-related accounts, Independent Medicare plans, and group entities such as school districts. This role is
DIRECT-HIRE
and requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage complex, multi-entity financial structures.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and general ledger maintenance
Maintain accurate financial records across three distinct divisions, ensuring proper allocation and reconciliation
Manage accounting related to retirement plans, actuarial accounts, Independent Medicare plans, and group entities (including school districts)
Track and reconcile contributions, premiums, distributions, and benefit-related financial transactions
Prepare and reconcile monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
Assist with reporting and compliance related to retirement plans, Medicare, and group benefit programs
Collaborate with actuaries, financial advisors, administrators, and internal leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
Support internal and external audits, regulatory reporting, and financial reviews
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable federal and state regulations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting across multiple entities or divisions
Strong knowledge of retirement accounting, actuarial-related financials, Medicare, and group benefit accounting
Experience working with group entities such as school districts, municipalities, or similar organizations preferred
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms)
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information
Preferred Experience
Experience with Independent Medicare plans and benefit administration
Multi-entity or fund accounting experience
Experience supporting actuarial reporting, pension funds, or public-sector entities
Familiarity with compliance requirements related to Medicare and public-sector accounting
