Primary Purpose Oversees Neurodiagnostic technical staff, or Sleep Center support and technical staff. Manages daily operations under the supervision of the department manager. Performs the most advanced level of Neurodiagnostic and Sleep diagnostic procedures to ensure optimal provision of services.

Minimum Specifications Education

None

Experience

Must have ten (10) years of advanced Neurophysiology or Sleep Diagnostic experience.

Must have two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

None

Certification / Registration / Licensure

Must be registered by the American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) as a Registered Electrodiagnostic Technologist (REDT)

or

Must be registered by the American Board of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) as a Registered EEG Technologist (REEGT)

or

Must be registered by ABRET as a Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (REPT)

or

Must be certified in Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM)

or

Must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT)

or

Must be registered by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST)

or

Must be RRT/CRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care with Sleep Disorders Specialist Certification (RRT-SDS or CRT-SDS)

or

Must have certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Clinical Sleep Health Educator (CCSH)

Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification

Must hold a Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification issued by one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network.

Current incumbents in the role as of 8/1/2023 must obtain this certification no later than 11/30/2023.

Ability to provide supervision and leadership to direct reports.

Ability to perform routine and advanced Neurodiagnostic or Sleep Diagnostic procedures independently following established department procedures.

Expert knowledge of advanced neurophysiology techniques or sleep diagnostic procedures.

Collaborates with physicians on new techniques and recommends changes as indicated.

Proficient with personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Assists with development of department policy & procedure.

Performs daily supervision of technical and clinic staff.

Assists management with department budget applications.

Assists with identification of department supplies needed.

Assists management with oversight of safety and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities and that all service areas are staffed per guidelines. Provides learning opportunities for staff.

Evaluates equipment and supplies; recommends cost‑effective solutions to meet department needs.

Assists in monitoring annual budgets to ensure adequate funding for departmental goals.

Independently performs routine, complex, and advanced Neurodiagnostic procedures including EEGs, evoked potentials, intra‑operative monitoring, nerve conduction studies, and/or polysomnograms for accurate diagnostics.

Analyzes job design, work processes, and workflows for the Neurophysiology area; implements changes that improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency.

Trains staff in department‑specific educational requirements, including infection control and hazardous materials.

Maintains positive relationships with staff and physicians; ensures high staff morale and job satisfaction.

Provides high customer satisfaction by promptly addressing patient requests for assistance, information, and needs.

Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in neurophysiology; attends seminars, workshops, and professional journals to integrate knowledge into current practices.

Coordinates quality management projects to ensure patient satisfaction and high technical standards.

Improves work processes and customer satisfaction; makes recommendations, implements and monitors results as appropriate to support departmental and institutional goals.

Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area; develops internal controls to promote compliance.
