Position Summary The Project Manager is wholly responsible for the successful planning, implementation, testing, training, and closing of all assigned projects. As the single point of contact, from post‑sale through project sign‑off, Project Managers are expected to have exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills, and the ability to manage all stakeholders' expectations throughout the life cycle of the project. This may require regular meetings and status updates to the owners and executive management, both internal to SWC and external to the stakeholders. A Project Manager will have a specific aptitude for managing budgets, risk assessment/management, resource allocations, quality control, procurement, and other client‑specific project processes. This includes creating comprehensive project and work plans in accordance with the customer approved scope of work and/or contract and schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work and behave in a manner that upholds and projects the SWC Core Values, and ensure all project team members’ behavior is consistent with these values
Lead project hand off meetings with sales and design
Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan
Lead project kick‑off meetings with owner and other stakeholders
Lead pre‑installation meetings with the team prior to job starting
Procure any equipment or hardware as outlined in the bill of materials
Aggressively manage projects on time, on scope, and on budget according to the SWC workflow process
Assign and follow up on project tasks assigned to other team members based on the project plan and project timeline
Organize and facilitate ongoing project meetings with stakeholders and the project team
Lead project retrospective meetings as needed, and apply lessons learned to improve processes and procedures
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks or elevate as needed to avoid negative impact to project timeline or budget
Keep Manager and Executive Management team updated on high‑risk and/or high‑profile projects
Keep accurate project documentation including but not limited to budgets, change orders, scope changes, project timeline updates, meeting minutes, IP
Addresses programming and any other turnover documents
Aggressively works to receive project acceptance by set turnover date
Lead service hand off meeting once project acceptance has been receivedCompile all turnover documentation as set by SWC standards or project contract documents
Working knowledge of Rauland nurse call systems a plus
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Advocate for the customer in a way that is consistent with the SWC Core Values
Mentor and provide peer review and guidance to fellow Project Managers
Proactively strive to improve processes and procedures in a way that will positively impact the SWC workflow process
Attend scheduled company meetings
Attend training classes held either onsite or offsite as required
Occasionally travel to job sites over 2 hours away that require overnight stays
Requirements
Must submit to and pass a pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens as mandated by the Tennessee Drug‑Free Workplace program
Must be able to become a registered alarm employee under the requirements of the state of Tennessee
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks amidst regular interruptions
Skills and ability to effectively run multiple projects simultaneously
Self‑sufficient, self‑motivated, organized, reliable, and punctual without the need for daily supervision
Strong computer skills with Sage, MS Office Suite, Teamwork, and MS Project
Familiar with and able to understand critical path workflows
Able to read and interpret complex blueprints and electrical schematics
Must be skilled in dealing with ambiguity – effectively coping with change, shifting gears comfortably, and deciding/acting without having the total picture
3-5 years of experience in project management preferred
Physical Demands
Must be able to effectively use a computer for extended periods of time
Must be able to traverse unfinished construction sites
Must be able to communicate effectively by email or on the phone
Work Conditions
While the job demands the ability to work in an office for long periods of time, some on‑site meetings will be required, in varying weather conditions
The nature of the construction business may require long work hours and occasional weekend work in order to meet project‑specific timelines
