Responsibilities
Check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts. Make repairs when necessary.
Inspect for weld spatter, burn‑through, and other visible weld defects, removing or repairing them as needed. Use oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or an automatic programmable welder as required.
Perform all job set‑ups, rework on painted parts and finished products, and be willing to perform all other operations in the department.
Clean and change torch tips and nozzles, clean conductors or lines with solvent as required, and clean or change helmet lenses as necessary.
Report labor, move completed parts to designated areas, move stock to and from workstations, stock racks, and holding areas, and rack or un‑rack parts as required.
Responsible for schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity as per Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
Maintain both quality and quantity of work: participate in team activities and problem‑solving sessions as required, communicate problems and solutions, follow written processes and procedures, document production data for quality feedback and scheduling, troubleshoot and repair issues, and train, instruct, and assist other operators.
Evaluate defective material and tooling, faulty operations, questionable conditions, and potential work stoppages. Advise and recommend alternatives. Ensure the work area and equipment remain clean, orderly, and safe, following prescribed safety regulations.
Additional work assignments may be assigned in accordance with the job requirements.
Qualifications
Must pass a weld test.
Successfully complete GMAW School.
Have a high school diploma or GED. (Applicable to anyone hired after 1997.)
Compensation & Benefits Pay rate: $22.27 an hour.
